French President Emmanuel Macron said Thursday, in the South Korean capital, Seoul, that "the statements made by his American counterpart, Donald Trump, about being beaten by his wife" are neither appropriate nor at the required level.
On the first day of a state visit to South Korea, Macron said that these statements “do not deserve a response.”
Macron stressed that “the Strait of Hormuz must be reopened through diplomacy, not military action,” adding: “Any military operation to liberate the Strait of Hormuz would be unrealistic.”
Trump said on Wednesday: “I called Macron in France, whose wife treats him very badly. "He's still recovering from a hard slap on the jaw."
Trump continued: “And I said: Emmanuel, we would like to get some help in the Gulf, even though we are breaking records in terms of the number of bad guys we take out and the number of ballistic missiles we destroy, we would like to get some help.” If possible, can you send ships immediately?”
The US President used a French accent to say Macron's alleged answer: “No, no, no, we can't do that, Donald. "We can do this after the war ends."
He added: "I told him: No, no, I don't need that, Emmanuel, after the war ends."
